About ProVaR

Protected Varieties Ltd (ProVaR) has been set up to increase levels of awareness in new ornamental plants and to respond quickly to requests of information from garden centres, nurseries and journalists about the supply of UK protected plants. ProVaR will also collect royalties on protected plants for its members.

The company is managed by a team of Directors who are volunteers to the committee and is run on a not for profit basis, therefore fees will be set annually at a rate to cover costs and ensure the long term survival of the organization.

The policing and monitoring of royalties due from the sale of ProVaR breeder member's varieties is carried out by Wendy Staniforth who will combine the role of field officer and Administrator.

ProVaR will be creating a user friendly access to the availability of improved varieties, sources of stock, technical summaries and images.

Support from HDC

ProVar is indebted to financial support received from the Horticultural Development Council to assist in the initial marketing of the organization and for funding the development of its website.
